There are tons of slot developers out there and some of the biggest names in online slots have sub-developers underneath. Names like Microgaming, Playtech, Cryptologic, RTG, Net Entertainment, and Rival are huge in the industry while some of the cool providers like Rabcat, High 5, and NYX may take a back seat.

Most of these guys have been providing slots to online casinos for years. While the most dominant in the 10 years of mainstream gaming is Microgaming, they are beginning to lose ground to some of the providers with cooler mechanics like Betsoft and Net Entertainment.

The biggest players are land-based gaming providers which have been slowly launching an online presence over the last few years... IGT, WMS, Aristocrat, and Bally (among others) have slowly expanded their gaming presence to online operators. Plenty more of the big guys [who create land-based slot games] are coming online sooner than later as it is important to gain a foothold in the market prior to launch of the vegas brands.
