Our Review of Warlocks
Warlocks Slot Review
Warlocks by Big Time Gaming is a fantasy themed slot built around dueling Warlocks who randomly change symbols for bigger payouts. The base game starts on a six reel by four row layout, but the real action happens during cascading reels and wizard magic (not to mention the bonus rounds) This is one of those games that can feel quiet for a while, then suddenly turn into large wins.
Base Game Layout
The base game is a 6x4 layout that offers the big paying crystal balls
Wild Symbol
The wild symbol substitutes for all regular symbols except for the Orbs.
Stash and Spin feature
The stash and spin feature is triggered when there are at least 6 orbs scatttered on the reels
The reels change during this feature into a different 6x4 grid. All symbols can only show Orbs at this point. The fire warlock sets a group of reels on fire that expand with new multipliers on each subsequent spin. The fire multiplier affects all Orbs in that group. The ice warlocks tries to put out that fire. When the multiplier burns through all positions, the game is over.
Warlock Bonuses
I'm not sure I would really call these bonuses, but often the Fire and Ice Warlocks will rain down fire (and ice) magic to replace symbols randomly. The fire warlock removes all symbols except the orbs on reels 2-5. The Ice warlock replaces all instances of a random symbol (If the K symbol is randomly chosen and there are 3 on the reels, all 3 are replaced.
This feature is where the slot earns its high volatility label. A bonus round can end quickly with little value, or it can build into a very strong payout when the fire reels keep expanding.
General Gameplay
Warlocks plays slower than many modern slots. The base game does not give much back, and most of the excitement is locked behind the Stash and Spin feature. This makes it a game where patience matters. When the bonus hits, though, the fire expanding reels create a real nice win.
Overall Experience
This is a slot that feels designed for players who enjoy waiting for one big moment. The visuals are dark and moody, and the gameplay leans heavily into risk. When the stash and spin feature works, it feels rewarding. When it does not, it can feel unforgiving.
From a simple viewpoint the slot works because:
- Warlock bonuses keep interest
- wOrbs can create higher value
- each bonus spin feels tense
It may feel limited because:
- base game wins are very small
- bonus rounds can end quickly without much return
✓ Pros
- •Stash and Spin can add up
- •Warlocks keep the game interesting
- •Orbs can add up
✗ Cons
- •Despite warlocks, base game can eat bankroll
Bottom Line
Final Verdict
Warlocks is not a slot for quick wins. It is slow, risky, and very bonus focused. That said, when the stash and spins expand the reels (fire reels) and the multipliers add to the total win, the game becomes exciting in a way few simple slots do. I would rate this around a 7.5 out of 10. It can be frustrating, but the warlocks raining down magic kept me interested enough to chase the bonus.
